Monarch Butterfly House

Tagged Monarch in Garden By Terry LeBaronButterfly House 2009
Imagine this: You walk into the multi-purpose room at Audubon and are surrounded by Monarch Butterflies. Maybe one will land on you. Maybe you will see an adult emerge from its chrysalis. Maybe you will watch a caterpillar munch on some milkweed.

Monarch Mama, Barbara Case will be on hand to show you how she attaches tiny tags to the butterflies’ wings so that scientists can track their migration.

Admission to the building is free on Sundays, but since this is a fundraiser, we will charge you $5 to go into the Butterfly Room. It will be totally worth it! Bring your camera.

Date: Sunday, August 30, 2009
Time: 1:00-4:00 p.m.
Cost: $5/person

Animals of the Earth Day 2009

Earth Day Open House

Feed me!The Sunday closest to Earth Day (April 22) is a great time to get down to the Center to enjoy early spring. This year the date is Sunday, April 26th, from 1-4:30 pm so mark your calendars!

  • Animal Care Fundraiser – come and meet some cool live animals!
  • Hike
  • Explore the exhibit
  • Sign up for Summer Day Camp Programs and take advantage of the early bird discount.

Sundays are free admission days. However, there will be a $5 fee for the Earth Day program in our multi-purpose room. All proceeds will help feed and house our live animals.

This year the theme is “How People Help Animals” and we’ll talk about all the ways that people care for, help out, or rescue animals. Whether it is an abandoned pet or orphaned woodchucks, people can help.

There will be live animals, of course. That is the theme of the day! There are few things that connect people more to the earth than a live animal.

Check here for more details, or email or call with any questions!
